1992 ATCC Winner Mark Skaife Nissan R32 Skyline GT-R 1:18 Diecast Model

#2. NISSAN MOTOR SPORT
1992 ATCC WINNER
Driver: Mark Skaife

The Nissan GT-R, built by Gibson Motorsport and driven by Jim Richards and Mark Skaife, was the weapon of choice in the early 90's.

Under the guidance of Fred Gibson, the Nissan Motorsport team had been steadily gaining momentum from the late 1980's. Skaife, who started with Gibson Motorsport as a mechanic and driver, was elevated to a full time main game drive in 1989 in the predecessor to the GT-R, the GTS-R.

The four wheel drive GT-R was brought into competition in 1990, helping Jim Richards secure the 1990 Australian Touring Car Championship and subsequently the 1991 Championship.

In 1992 however, there was no stopping his young protege, Mark Skaife. He won all before him, becoming the first driver to win the Australian Touring Car Championship, in the Tooheys 1000 at Bathurst and the CAMS Gold Star for Formula Holdens the same year.

It is product number 89276 and priced at $205
