The HT Monaro had proven to be an un-reliable car for Norm Beechey in previous races.

The 4th round of the ATCC at Sandown was the first time for the season that the HT Monaro
was able to make it to the finish line securing 3rd place on the podium.

This was the last time that Norm Beechey was to stand on the podium in the HT Monaro.
